Do candles make good fundraisers?

In the December 2005 Issue of Woman's Day Magazine page 24, the whole page is
about the Holiday Challenge. One poll is called Speedy Santa "Whats your favorite last
minute gift? Well, Guess what made the top answer on the list? You guessed it:

43% Scented Candles
24% Bottle of Wine
15% Box of Chocolates
14% Lottery Ticket
4% Stationery

Page 27 Woman Day Dec 2005 Interview with a store owner of clothes, home decor,
and assorted gifts. One of the questions asked?
" Is there a Foolproof gift?"
Answer
: "A beautiful ceramic vase or a (yes you guessed it) Candle is Great!

Additionally, surveys done by the candle industry indicate that candles are used in 7
out of 10 US households across every demographic. Candle purchasers view candles
as appropriate gifts for the holidays (76%), as house warming gifts (74%), as
hostess/dinner party gifts (66%), as thank you gifts (61%) and as adult birthday gifts
(58%).

So, instead of "guilting" people into buying stale candy, overpriced wrapping paper, or
any of the other "ordinary" fundraising items - why not sell something that people ARE
ALREADY BUYING??!!!  

How do I start my fundraiser?
A Commitment Form is included in my information packet. Just fill it out and email/snail
mail it in. All your fundraising materials will be shipped at no charge once the form is
received! If you would like an information packet or if you are ready to get started right
away please contact me!

Are there any startup fees with your fundraisers?
No ! "Makes Scents To Me"  will supply everything you need to get started with your
fundraiser. There are no out-of-pocket expenses.

What supplies do I receive?
Once we have your fundraiser customized for YOUR organization, you will receive sales
brochures and informational fliers for all of your participants, master forms to tally your
orders, and a detailed instructions page for totaling and ordering your products.

Can any size group participate?
Yes! Any size group or individual can participate in our fundraisers.

Do you have to be a non-profit group to use your fundraisers?
No! Any group or individual needing to raise funds for a worthy cause can use our
fundraisers.

Am I required to purchase products and then sell them?
No! Our fundraisers are based on pre-sells. Your participants sell from our sales
brochure for the designated length of your fundraiser; collecting the funds as they sell.
The director collects all the funds and orders; tallies everything on the master form and
turns that in to 'Makes Scents To Me'. You will only pay for the products you order.
 There is no need to keep inventory on hand and you are not left with anything that you
cannot sell!

When do I pay for my order?
Your participants make their payments for the products directly to your organization.  
When the fundraiser is over, simply tally your profit and deduct it from the total monies
collected.  Send the remaining amount to me with your master order
form.  

What are your prices and what is my profit margin?
The beauty of a 'Makes Scents To Me' fundraiser is that the prices are customized to your
local area.  We realize that each region has different economic factors that will play a
part in your fundraiser.  Therefore, we work with you to designate prices & profit
margins that will maximize your fundraiser's impact.

Can you mix and match the fundraising products?
Absolutely!  Our most popular fundraising items are our 16oz Jars, 16oz Pillars; novelty
Cinnamon Buns; and soy-sational cleansing bars.  However, YOU are in charge of your
fundraiser - feel free to pick amongst all of our candle and bath/body products.

How long does it take to get my products?
Your orders will be shipped within 10-14 business days after payment is received.  They will be shipped via UPS directly to your organization.

When is the best time to hold a fundraiser?
The best time to start your fundraiser is when your group is ready and totally committed
to reaching your goals!  With over 90 candle scents to choose from - a 'Makes Scents To Me' fundraiser works beautifully ANY time of the year.  Some organizations do
multiple
fundraisers each year - each time using DIFFERENT products!
